How Loceng Kencana came to be
The workshop on Jalan Sultan Idris Shah was set up by a watchmaker who had spent years learning the trade in quiet, attentive ways — first by taking apart his own pieces, then by studying under craftsmen who held the same regard for mechanical things that good writing holds for words.
The name Loceng Kencana — golden bell — was chosen not as a flourish, but as a reminder: a well-kept watch, like a bell, speaks clearly when the time is right. The workshop's work is to make sure those small voices are not lost.
Over the years, the workshop has cared for inherited timepieces, everyday wearers, and pieces that arrived in a box with no explanation beyond "my father's". Each one is treated with the same steady attention.
Loceng Kencana is not a large operation. It is intentionally not. The people here believe that craft done well does not scale without losing something — and what is lost first, in a hurry, is the quality of listening.

Nurul's background is in fine restoration work. She oversees Hand & Dial Tidy services and brings a steady eye to cosmetic work that must stay true to a watch's original character.

Faris looks after all Comfort & Wear Refits — from selecting the right replacement strap to adjusting a bracelet so that a returned watch feels as it should on the wrist.

How we approach every piece
Assessment Before Action
Every watch is examined and its condition noted before any work begins. We share what we find with you before proceeding.
Appropriate Lubricants Only
We use lubricants suited to the movement's age and type. Over-lubricating can be as harmful as under-lubricating — we apply what is needed and no more.
Safe Handling at All Times
Each piece is stored in a protective tray when not on the bench, and never left open to dust or movement without reason.
Written Service Records
Heritage overhauls include a written note on the watch's condition and the work carried out — a record you can keep alongside the piece.
Your Watch, Your Decision
Nothing is done to your watch without your knowledge and consent. If we find something unexpected, we stop and tell you before continuing.
Honest Timelines
We give realistic completion estimates from the start. If something changes, we let you know promptly — not when you come to collect.
